A dental emergency is hard to ignore: a bad toothache, a tooth that’s broken or knocked out, swelling, or a filling that fell out. If that’s where you are, call Dentistry for Families & Orthodontics in North Las Vegas at (702) 633-4333. We hold time for emergencies during office hours and will do our best to see you the same day.
Calling early in the day gives us the best shot at seeing you that same day. For a knocked-out tooth, time matters most, so phone ahead before you come in. We see patients from North Las Vegas, Aliante, Centennial Hills, and Nellis AFB.
When to treat it as an emergency
Call us right away if you have:
- Severe tooth pain or pressure
- A broken, chipped, or knocked-out tooth
- A lost filling or crown
- Swelling, a dental abscess, or signs of infection
- Bleeding or an injury to the mouth
A small chip you can live with for a day or two usually isn’t urgent. If you’re not sure, call and we’ll help you decide.
Why it’s worth acting fast
Waiting on a dental problem tends to make it bigger and more expensive. Treating it early usually means faster relief, a better chance of saving the tooth, and simpler treatment. For a knocked-out tooth the first hour counts: handle it by the crown rather than the root, keep it moist, and call us on your way in.
What an emergency visit looks like
We start with an exam and digital X-ray to find the problem, focus first on getting you out of pain, and treat it the same day when we can. Depending on what’s going on, that might mean a root canal, a filling or crown, or a tooth extraction. If you need follow-up care, we’ll schedule it.
Common questions
How fast can I be seen?
We keep room for emergencies during office hours. Call as early as you can and we’ll do our best to get you in the same day.
Should I go to the ER or a dentist?
A dentist handles most dental emergencies. Go to the ER for severe facial swelling, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a serious injury to the face or jaw.
Can a knocked-out tooth be saved?
Often, yes, if it’s treated within about an hour. Hold it by the crown, keep it moist (milk works), and call us right away.
What will it cost?
It depends on the problem and the treatment. We’ll look first, explain what you need, and go over the cost before we start. We accept most major PPO plans.
