Nitrous oxide — sometimes called laughing gas — is the lightest sedation option we offer. You breathe it in through a small mask that rests over your nose. Within a minute or two you’ll feel relaxed and calm, but you stay awake and aware the whole time.
It’s a good fit if you’re a little nervous but don’t want to be heavily sedated, or if you just want to take the edge off without having to arrange a ride home afterward. The effects wear off quickly once the mask comes off, so most patients can drive themselves.
We offer nitrous for both adults and kids. It pairs well with any routine or restorative appointment — cleanings, fillings, crowns, whatever’s on the schedule.
